The Challenge
The client, a national retailer with over 500 locations, was relying on weekly, manually updated Excel spreadsheets that took multiple analysts over 60 hours a week to compile. By the time regional managers saw the data, it was already 5-7 days out of date. This severe lag in reporting led to frequent stockouts of high-demand items during critical promotional periods, massive overstocking of low-performing items, and ultimately, millions of dollars in missed sales opportunities. Furthermore, the executive team had zero visibility into real-time regional performance during critical holiday seasons like Black Friday.
Our Solution
Praxora Technologies engineered a highly scalable, automated data pipeline using Python and Azure Data Factory to extract raw sales, inventory, and supply chain data directly from their fragmented legacy POS systems. We consolidated this data into a centralized, highly optimized SQL Server data warehouse hosted on Azure Synapse. On top of this robust foundation, we built a suite of live Power BI dashboards that update every 15 minutes. The dashboards feature granular drill-down capabilities, allowing users to analyze performance by region, individual store, and specific SKU. We also integrated a machine-learning-based predictive forecasting model using Python to anticipate demand surges weeks in advance.
